What is Formula SAE
Formula SAE is a design competition hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers. The idea behind FSAE is that a student design group has been contracted to build and open wheel Formula-style weekend race car. The student team is responsible for all aspects of the car's design, fabrication, marketing, and business plan. The cars are to be built to the SAE standards for the competition ensuring on-track safety while still promoting adaptive problem solving. The FSAE competition has branched into multiple sections, covering combustion, electric, hybrid and even driverless. With over 500 teams in combustion alone, the international competition has grown significantly, providing valuable real world experience that can be directly applied in the automotive, as well as other, engineering sectors in post graduate pursuits.
What makes Gryphon Racing special?
Here at Gryphon Racing, we do things a little differently to stand out from the competition. First and foremost, we are one of the only, if not the only longitudinally mounted, shaft driven FSAE vehicles in the world. We've successfully mounted a GSX-R600 engine to a lightweight differential for the past 15 years.
